About Our School

Hours:  Monday through Friday, 9am to 11:45 am, September through mid-June. We do not offer after-school care or a summer program. Our holiday and summer schedule generally mirror the Oakland Unified School District's calendar.

Ages:  Children must be 3 years or older by September 1.

Students:  We have approximately 33 children each year: half are first year or 3 to 4 year old students, and half are second year or 4 to 5 year olds. The groups are mixed together at all times and the daily attendance is between 20 and 23 children.

Schedule: First year (3 year olds) students start out attending 3 days per week. Later in the school year, families may add an additional day depending on the child's readiness and space availability.

Second year (4 year olds) students attend 3, 4 or 5 days a week, depending on the child's readiness and space availability.

Staff:  Two fully accredited and well-qualified staff members oversee our program. Both are proud parents themselves.

• Our director, Margaret Brockway (M.S., Elementary Education), has over 28 years of experience with young children, 16 of those years with Sequoia.
• Our teacher, Renee Bundy, has a B.A. in psychology, and she has spent the last 9 years working with children at Sequoia after her own experience as a Sequoia parent.
• With a minimum of six parents working with our director and teacher, we provide an adult to child ratio of 3:1
